PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
- Crisis Prevention and Emergency Services - direct cash assistance and counseling provided to eligible households to assist with alleviating a crisis by helping them to increase their potential for stability and progress towards self-sufficiency. When available, funds are used to prevent evictions and foreclosures. Eligibility criteria must be met and funds may be limited.
- Case Management Services - provided in conjunction with crisis prevention and emergency services.

Commodities Distributions (TEFAP -Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program) - food is distributed on a first come, first serve basis to low income households in Clarke County. Eligibility is based on income and household size. Generally there are three distributions per year. Distributions are regularly held in March and June. Other distribution dates may vary. The Council on Aging collaborates with the Clarke County Community Service Office to insure their homebound Senior households also receive commodities.

- Low Income Home Energy Assistance(LIHEAP) - intake site -complete intake and application process for the energy assistance program. The goal of the program is to offset the cost of winter heating and/or summer cooling costs to eligible households, including crisis energy assistance. Eligibility is based on income and family size. Vendors of eligible households receive a one-time payment. The Winter Heating Energy Assistance Program begins in November for households 65 or older and in December for all households. The program generally ends by May 1. The Department of Human Resources decides whether or not there will be a Summer Cooling Progam and determines the month(s) it will be offered.

Energy Conservation Counseling/Energy Advocacy - generally provided in conjunction with LIHEAP services.
- SCANA Energy Regulated Natural Gas Low Income Program Referrals - appointments are made to get a referral to this program if you are qualified as low income and in need of natural gas service, including those that have been unable to obtain or maintain natural gas service with another marketer.

Employment Counseling - services include counseling, support services and information with referrals to programs that may assist with leads to gainful employment.

Budget Counseling - provided in conjunction with crisis prevention and emergency services.

Weatherization Intake/General Housing Counseling - complete intake and application for the weatherization program. The goal of the program is to make low-income families' homes more comfortable and energy efficient. Eligibility is based on income level and family size, with priority given to the elderly and disabled.

Youth Enrichment Program Scholarships (primarily summer camps) - programs eligible to receive youth scholarship recipients must provide enriching experiences for youth that enhance their education, social and emotional development, provide recreational activities, improve decision making skills, improve family functioning, and address various youth issues. Applicant eligibility is based on income and household size. Funds are limited.

Community Partnerships - collaborations with other agencies, organizations, businesses, churches, etc. in the area.

Internships - enriching learning experiences available year round for students with referral and contract agreement from an area learning institution. Learning opportunities also available for Work Experience and Title V workers.
